RDA can only carry out our life-changing activities thanks to the generosity of our donors, the dedication of our volunteers and the good nature of our fantastic horses.
Volunteer
Aberdeen RDA is run entirely by volunteers. No previous experience of working with the disabled or with horses is necessary as training is given to all volunteers.
The main roles of a volunteer include leading the pony (leader) and walking alongside the rider (side-helper). You do not need to have any horse-riding experience, you just need to be reasonably fit and happy to help – even when it’s cold!
We ask our volunteers to help out once a week for one session (either Tuesday or Friday morning) for a maximum of two and a half hours.
Please get in touch if you can give us a few hours of your time – you will find it a really rewarding experience.
Donate
Aberdeen RDA provides riding opportunities for around 25 riders each week. We offer our services free of charge and receive no grants, so rely entirely on donations and fundraising activities.
Our outgoings include the hiring of instructors and ponies, training of volunteers, hire of the indoor school, insurance, equipment and the upkeep of the ponies we own 365 days a year.
If you are a UK tax-payer we would encourage you to Gift Aid your donation which makes it worth 25% more to us, at no extra cost to you!
