Riding for the Disabled is all about enriching lives through horses

Nationwide, RDA horses benefit the lives of over 25,000 disabled children and adults.

Riding For The Disabled Aberdeen (Aberdeen RDA) is the local member group of the national RDA charity, and, being formed in 1970, is one of the oldest groups in Scotland.

Thanks to the help of over 50 volunteers, we provide riding opportunities for around 25 riders each week.

We offer our services free of charge and rely entirely on voluntary help and donations to deliver this.

Aberdeen RDA holds sessions at Tillyoch Equestrian Centre, Milltimber on TUESDAY and FRIDAY mornings during school term-time.

Bit late posting this but there were all smiles at the last sessions of the summer term. The ponies, volunteers, carers and participants have all enjoyed themselves but have earned a well-earned break over the summer.

We were very happy to be one of the Co-Op’s chosen charities for the 2022-3 Community Fund. Volunteers Doreen Philip, Catherine Forbes and Catherine Stott were delighted to collect the cheque for £1331 and meet some of the lovely Peterculter Co-Op staff. Big thank you to the Co-Op and all they do for local charities all over the country.

PLEASE, PLEASE VOTE FOR Aberdeen RDA!!
The Press and Journal is celebrating its 275th year in 2023 and, as part of their birthday celebrations, they have launched The P&J 275 Community Fund. The P&J 275 Community Fund is a way “to celebrate and support the work of local charities, big and small. It’s a chance to shine a spotlight on some incredible organisations doing some remarkable work around the north and north-east of Scotland.”
Aberdeen RDA offers all its sessions free of charge and receives NO funding, so being one of the 4 charities supported by The P&J 275 Community Fund would be HUGE for us!
The charities will be decided by a reader vote - so this is where we need your help!
On Wednesday 1st November please buy a copy of the P&J. In it you will find articles with profiles on the nominated charities and a voting form. There will also be a pull-out magazine published on 1st November. If you subscribe to the P&J online, voting forms will be available via the e-paper on 1st November.
Please, please vote for us and SPREAD THE WORD - votes can be submitted up to midnight on 15th November.

Make path while the sun shines!

When one school unexpectedly had to cancel their attendance at an Aberdeen RDA session, the volunteers made good use of their 'free' time by tidying the new horse walk. Thanks to the hard work of all the volunteers, the three RDA ponies, Co-Op Elsa, Apache Sammy and...

AABi Teddy returns in top form

It was great to have AABi Teddy back at today's RDA session after he's been a bit poorly over the winter. Teddy was clearly very happy to be back doing his job, and both the riders and volunteers were delighted to see him.
