Aberdeen RDA is run entirely by volunteers. No previous experience of working with the disabled or with horses is necessary as training is given to all volunteers.
The main roles of a volunteer include leading the pony (leader) and walking alongside the rider (side-helper). You do not need to have any horse riding experience, you just need to be reasonably fit and happy to help - even when it's cold!
We ask that our volunteers help out once a week for one session, which is a maximum of two and a half hours.
Please get in touch if you can give us a few hours of your time - you will find it to be a really rewarding experience.
Aberdeen RDA provides riding opportunities for around 25 riders each week. We offer our services free of charge, and receive no grants, so rely entirely on donations to fund this.
